Get Ready

Welcome to the Ready Steuben Web Site.  This site was initiated in September 2010 as part of National Preparedness Month. The purpose of this site is to provide Steuben County Residents with information and resources regarding disaster planning and preparedness.

You never know where or when a disaster or emergency may happen, but when it does you want to be prepared.  It is crucial that residents know what to do and how to react in an emergency situation.  It could mean the difference between life and death.  This web site is arranged to help you and your family, business or even your community prepare.  The key functions in disaster preparedness are:

  1. Make a Plan
  2. Get a Kit
  3. Be Informed
  4. Get Involved

If citizens take these steps now, before a disaster strikes, they will be better prepared to weather the storm and protect themselves, their families, their neighbors and ultimately their community.

The development of this site is a collaborative effort between the Steuben County Office of Emergency Services, Steuben County Citizen Corps, The Greater Steuben Chapter of the American Red Cross, Steuben County RSVP, and the Steuben County Public Health and Nursing Services.  The page was funded with Grants from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security supported by the New York State Office of Emergency Management.
